Our Lady of the Rosary is situated on the Central Coast of NSW. Students are drawn mainly from Wyoming, Narara, Niagara Park, North Gosford, Lisarow and Ourimbah. The core values of the school are Respect, Justice, Hope and Personal Best. The school strives to value and foster the sacredness, achievements and potential of each person. The school motto, ‘Alive and Aware’, is a constant reminder of this mission. The school achieves this mission through living our Catholic values with a strong belief in striving for educational excellence. Religious Education is a high priority in our Catholic school. The desire to maintain strong academic standards is an ongoing focus for our school. We value prime teaching time and continue to place increasing emphasis on the teaching of literacy and numeracy. Professional development for our staff is guided by the NAPLAN data and continues to focus on quality teaching initiatives. A regular cycle of curriculum development and policy documentation has been undertaken in the school. Staff professional learning along with student learning is viewed as a lifelong process. By providing rigour and support for the professional learning of staff and a close partnership with parents, student learning is enriched. The use of resources and quality teaching and learning programs are underpinned by effective pedagogical principles by the staff. A substantial input from the Parents and Friends Association and the school’s own budget has supported the resources for this rich learning environment. Students’ special needs, giftedness or specific interests and capabilities are catered for in learning environments that promote open critical thinking and learning. Our Lady of the Rosary values and encourages student leadership. Our school captains and student leadership team are a part of our Student Representatives Council that has an active leadership role in the school. The senior class students are encouraged to be good role models and a positive influence for younger students in the school. The school enables students’ easy access to computers including laptops. The school has installed interactive whiteboards in all classrooms. Staff and students have embraced these ICT initiatives enabling our students to have excellent exposure to the technology shaping the 21st century. Our Lady of the Rosary is proud of its parent and community involvement in the school.
