Ourimbah Public School provides educationally challenging opportunities that give every student the best possible preparation to achieve their potential. Our school’s bushland and rainforest setting provides a unique learning environment in which our students learn and grow academically, personally and socially. We believe in excellence, opportunity and success and this guides everything we do. Our motto is ‘Endeavour to Excel’ and we support students by providing a range of experiences to allow them to achieve their personal best. We acknowledge and celebrate achievement whilst maintaining high expectations of effort and behaviour. The nine core values form the framework of school activities and guide our positive behaviour strategies, including our ‘Magpie Award’ program. The core values of our school are Integrity, Excellence, Respect, Responsibility, Cooperation, Participation, Care, Fairness and Democracy. Values are taught explicitly and through activities and relationships of the school and its community. The Peer Support Program strengthens student commitment to our values and provides leadership opportunities to senior students. Our experienced teachers monitor the progress of students and address specific learning needs. We provide engaging activities including: visual arts, public speaking, technology, dance, drama and sporting opportunities. Our school band, ‘The Bluegum Flats’ and our two choirs offer great music opportunities, including instrumental tuition and performances. Ourimbah Public School provides a rich Transition to School program which includes the Best Start assessment, classroom activities, orientation, information sessions and a Teddy Bears Picnic. Year 5 student buddies provide support to our Kindergarten students during the transition program and in term one of the new school year. We work together with our Valley Schools to provide quality educational experiences for our learning community. These opportunities include Aboriginal cultural experience days and programs, leadership forums and student led projects, music and arts projects, performances and environmental workshops. Our Valley Schools Learning Community works together to address identified learning needs of students in academic areas through the Middle Years Initiative. Ourimbah Public School has a proud history which has been supported by a generous and productive school community and P&C. Together this has enabled our school, our students and teachers to have quality resources. The BER program provided our school with four new classrooms and a state of the art computer laboratory. Our priority learning areas continue to focus on literacy, numeracy, innovative practice and student engagement in quality learning. We believe in excellence, opportunity and success.

The new principal, Mr Francis, is enthusiastic and obviously loves his job. The school grounds are lovely with lots of room to play with green trees and rainforest surrounds. They’re always making improvements like the recent playground equipment for the Infant’s area and the Sensory Garden with a sand pit.
One of my kids struggles with literacy skills and the teachers were right on it, offering him extra help in Literacy Groups which are fun and don’t make him feel “different” from the other students.
Ourimbah is a great little public primary school. Lovely green surroundings with rainforest walks. Principal is wonderful! Teachers are amazing, even in kindy giving stretch opportunities and support where needed. Lovely welcoming community. So glad we applied out of area for here. – Katherine
